New Hampshire Expands Insurance Coverage for Infertility Care
In August 2019, Governor Sununu signed SB279 - a law that will expand insurance coverage for infertility diagnosis, treatment and preservation. The law takes effect on January 1, 2020, on a rolling basis as insurance policies are renewed. The law applies to group health insurance plans, which are what you purchase through your employer. Manchester OB/GYN Associates has long provided a wide spectrum of infertility services including diagnostic labs, imaging studies, and treatment. If you do not have infertility benefits through your insurance, our costs more economical than large fertility/IVF centers. We will guide you through the stresses of infertility, care for you during your pregnancy, and share in your joy when we deliver your healthy baby.
Infertility Diagnosis
Our infertility evaluation includes blood work timed with your cycle to look for hormonal or endocrine causes for infertility. We order semen analysis
to look for male factor infertility and will recommend further evaluation if indicated. We perform diagnostic and therapeutic imaging methods. Timed ultrasounds
can assess the uterine and ovarian anatomy. Sonohysterogram
places a small amount of water in the uterus during the ultrasound and can identify abnormalities in the uterine walls that can negatively impact pregnancy. HyCoSy
is a similar ultrasound approach that can determine if the tubes are open. We can also assess the tubes in the hospital setting via hysterosalpingogram (HSG). Office or hospital hysteroscopy may be performed to diagnose and treat uterine abnormalities. Our infertility coordinators (Sarah, Qyanna and Becca) will help walk you through the whole process. If you have any questions about our infertility services, please call to speak with a coordinator at extension 219.
Infertility Treatment
Our fertility treatments include sperm washing and intrauterine insemination (IUI)
where we place the washed sperm into the uterus around the time of ovulation. In addition, we have available the use of donor sperm from reputable labs. Fertility enhancing medications are used as necessary including Clomid, Letrozole and Gonadotropins (injectable medication). Blood tests and ultrasound monitoring are used to closely watch for the number of eggs and ovulation. We work closely with several IVF (in vitro fertilization) centers, performing blood work and ultrasounds, to minimize your travel time and keep your care local. The evaluation and treatment of infertility is an important part of women’s health – our MOGA family is here to help you build yours!
